Toronto, Canada – Lorpen, a leading designer of high performance socks for athletes, outdoor enthusiasts and professionals, today announced that they have signed an agreement with Lenzing AG making them the exclusive supplier of Lyocell and modal fibers for Lorpen's 2009 sock collection. Lenzing will provide three fibers for Lorpen - Tencel®, Lenzing Modal® and MicroModal®. Tencel, a naturally hygienic, anti-bacterial fiber made of Eucalyptus wood pulp, is able to hold significant amounts of moisture making it ideal for the high performance Lorpen Tri Layer collection. Lenzing Modal and MicroModal fibers, made from Beech tree pulp, are extremely soft making them a perfect component for the Lorpen Comfort Life collection.

“With Lenzing's superior fibers, Lorpen will have the unique ability to combine natural and synthetic fibers to make a better performance sock,” said Colin Sanders, VP of sales and marketing at Lorpen North America. “We have used Lenzing fibers in Lorpen socks for a few years now, and the time has come to make them an exclusive supplier based on the product's performance. Lenzing's fibers are made from natural resources that result in yarns that are soft as silk, as strong as polyester, as cool as linen, and more absorbent than cotton. We are always searching for components that can help us make a superior sock and we have found that with Lenzing.”
