Franklin Park mayor helps celebrate completion of $3.7 million renovation

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. – March 20, 2006 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of commercial cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, recently unveiled its newly renovated research and development lab in the company's Franklin Park facility. Franklin Park Mayor Daniel B. Pritchett and members of the Life Fitness senior executive staff participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the $3.7 million renovation.

“As the leader in the fitness equipment industry, Life Fitness places an emphasis on research and testing,” said John Stransky, president, Life Fitness. “This new lab will allow us to take our research and development to the next level and design cardiovascular and strength-training equipment that further meets our customers' needs.”

The 38,000-square-foot lab includes space and equipment dedicated to biomechanical, electromagnetic, environmental and mechanical research and development.

“This lab will energize our R&D efforts,” said Gary Peterson, senior vice president, Life Fitness. “From high-speed cameras to usage simulation equipment, the state-of-the-art lab will help us drive innovation, allow tremendous improvements in product time-to-market and further increase our products' already excellent quality and reliability.”

The lab was designed and engineered by A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc., a Chicago-based architecture and engineering firm, and Interior Space International, Epstein's in-house interior design subsidiary.
