Nestled deep in California’s Eldorado National Forest and surrounded by thousands of acres of snow-covered vertical terrain, the highly-anticipated Hideout Lodge is pleased to announce its new winter operations for the 2017/18 season, offering the ultimate basecamp for ski touring, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. Just a short drive from San Francisco or Los Angeles or an even shorter direct helicopter flight from San Francisco and other nearby airports, the Hideout Lodge is the first backcountry ski lodge of its kind in the United States.

Located 12 miles from Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Hideout Lodge's backcountry touring and helicopter assisted services offer a truly unique experience unlike anything offered in the region. By partnering with Lake Tahoe's Pacific North Helicopters, Hideout Lodge is equipped to take backcountry tours to the next level.

“It’s our intention is to redefine what it means to be a premium ski lodge and to offer what we feel is the perfectly balanced stay. Mainly because it's custom tailored and doesn't need to be tied to any itinerary,” said Bobby Lauterjung, CEO of Hideout Lodge. “We’ve combined luxury lodge amenities with the guest's choice of diverse backcountry adventures to expose more people to our authentic mountain experience. We want to make it easy for people to get deeper into the mountains and with multiple options for access - whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or snowmobiler.”

Located in a remote wilderness setting, the luxurious 5,000 sq. ft. lodge can accommodate up to 10 skiers and riders for an exclusive stay while offering endless big mountain adventures. Heli assisted ski and splitboard tours into the famed Sierra Buttes region are guided by professional mountain guides certified by the American Mountain Guide Association. Delicious gourmet meals are prepared by an executive chef using the finest local ingredients. Hideout Lodge also has its own saloon, cedar hot tub and outdoor barrel sauna, and offers après ski activities such as yoga classes and spa massages.

“Our team has worked relentlessly to deliver California an experience normally only found in British Columbia or Alaska. We want to allow people options with the ability to tailor everything to their liking. We're excited with what we can offer this first season but we're more excited to grow with the community and expand our operations in the future. This is only the beginning. I'm particularly proud of our partnership with Pacific North Helicopters. We share big goals together,” Lauterjung added.

Hideout Lodge offers an elevated take on the classic backcountry ski hut experience while cultivating something much more refined. With over 700” of snowfall in the 2016/17 season, Hideout Lodge and the surrounding terrain annually receives some of the most snowfall in the United States, offering the freshest untracked terrain the West has to offer. Remarkably, this experience has never existed in California. Until now. To learn more, visit
