Boulder, Colo., November 6, 2006 – La Sportiva is excited to announce they have teamed up with Boulder based Eco-Cycle to reach the goal of becoming a Zero Waste organization.
The Zero Waste Service from Eco-Cycle includes a comprehensive three–part program that involves more than just recycling the copy paper. The three legs include: collection of all waste; education within the company, and promotion in the community.
Eco-Cycle provides a service in which 90-percent, or more, of La Sportiva's waste will be kept out of landfills, and computers and electronics will be properly disposed. Through this service employees will be educated on how to reduce creating waste in the workplace and engage in environmental business practices.
The Zero Waste program is the latest environmentally friendly business practice incorporated by La Sportiva. Existing initiatives include the La Sportiva factory in the Italian Dolomites holding both ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 certifications and the company converting to windpower as of 2005.
La Sportiva hopes to lead by example for other businesses in the industry and their community. For more information about Eco-Cycle, please visit www.ecocycle.org. For more information about La Sportiva, please visit www.sportiva.com.
