Investing in Mountain Professionals — ARC’TERYX Partners with International Guides

Vancouver BC - Canadian manufacturer ARC’TERYX is proud to announce the company has signed a 3 year partnership agreement with the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA), who will be in Whistler this month for their general assembly May 10-17, 2013.

Formed in 1965 to standardize the training and practices of mountain guides, the Federation now represents 6000 guides from more than 20 nations.

ARC’TERYX, a high performance outdoor brand based in North Vancouver, BC, has long relied on input from this community for honest, real world feedback from mountain professionals, which lead the the brand to sign a three year contract with the IFMGA, solidifying their partnership.

According to James Bronson, Arc’teryx Pro & Industry Sales Supervisor, a larger scale relationship of this nature is an invaluable investment.“This partnership offers a unique opportunity to get direct feedback from mountain guides not only here in Canada but around the world to ensure that we are making product that is applicable to any mountain condition,” Bronson said.

IFMGA guides are trained to the highest standards. Supporting them is an opportunity not overlooked by the Canadian brand or the federation itself.

As Hanno Dönz, President of the IFMGA says, “We are very happy to be partnering with Arc’teryx. It is essential not only to the work we do, but to the confidence it gives to everyone in the mountain community that a company like Arc’teryx is investing in the mountain profession.”

As part of the contract Arc’teryx will underwrite expenses, act as a host for events and promote the importance of hiring guides. “We have already been working together on our recent expedition to Denali, to develop and standardized high altitude training. We look forward to the continued participation in future projects and events,” said Dönz.

Prior to the conference in Whistler, the IFMGA and Arc’teryx will host the IFMGA Skiing Championship this week in Engadin, Switzerland, May 2-5, 2013.
