IHRSA Establishes The John McCarthy Merit Scholarship

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) announced today that it has established a merit scholarship in John McCarthy’s name to its annual Institute for Professional Club Management.

BOSTON – June 12, 2006 - The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) announced today that it has established a merit scholarship in John McCarthy's name to its annual Institute for Professional Club Management. IHRSA is currently accepting applications for the scholarship, which will be awarded annually, to this year's Institute.

“It is with great pleasure that we introduce this scholarship,” said Joe Moore, President of IHRSA's Board of Directors. “Under John's tutelage, the IHRSA Institute has become a tremendous educational resource for health club professionals and it seems fitting that we honor John in this special and lasting way.”

Qualified candidates for the John McCarthy Merit Scholarship should be able to demonstrate their passion for and absolute commitment to the health club industry's future, as well as their service, sales and leadership skills. Applications for this year's award, including two references, must be submitted to IHRSA by June 15. IHRSA will host the 18th Annual IHRSA Institute for Professional Club Management from August 7-11, 2006 at the Babson Executive Conference Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The four-day educational conference will feature speakers, events and industry networking opportunities.
