It is not a banner year for top-tier talent in this year’s Major League Baseball free agent crop, so there’s not a lot of fuel to the winter hot-stove league*. Sure, Josh Hamilton will command some mega-bucks, and Zack Greinke will likely land some serious cash – perhaps from the suddenly fiscally irresponsible Los Angeles Dodgers.
But that’s just one truly elite position player and one premier pitcher. Who is the hot commodity on this year’s marketing creative shopping list?

My client likes to work on short to medium-term contracts at more of a five-figure salary range. He’s not in to to break the bank, he’s in it to make his team’s product better.”
The stats are there. Mooers has played for teams including GoPro, KEEN!, The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Gaiam and the Discovery Channel. His top-flight copywriting has engaged customers on web sites, catalogs, packaging, plus he’s delivered wicked good content at every level of the demand-gen funnel.
He is renowned for combining high performance with incredible versatility, and knows how to juggle multiple teams and a variety of projects.
His most recent contract was with mortgage software giant Ellie Mae, Inc., where his high-performance and team-focused approach earned him a new nickname: The Savior.
“The Savior? Look – I’m just a guy who gets down to it and writes copy to make his team better,” says Mooers. “It’s my job to perform for the team so that all of us can work together to reach the highest level of marketing creative: elevating the brand, inspiring the consumer, and – ultimately – selling more stuff.”
As for a long-term, in-house deal? “Always open to discussing it,” says Mooers. “I’m fiercely loyal, love aligning myself with a high-performing crew and getting some real great creative out there. But I do live in the mountains and just bought my season pass. Look, I love the long-term relationship thing, but do like to keep things open, if you know what I mean.”
