PETALUMA, CA – Tarma Designs, a Petaluma, CA-based jewelry company, has retained On the Horizon Communications, a full-service PR firm based in Pismo Beach, CA, to handle public relations for its outdoor- and culturally-inspired product lines.

Launched in February 2005, Tarma is reaching new frontiers when it comes to stylish and socially and environmentally conscious wearable art for women and men. The company offers two distinct collections of jewelry artistically designed to evoke the positive feelings associated with outdoor adventure and the discovery of new experiences and world cultures.

“My husband, Sky, (former vice president of marketing for CamelBak) and I enjoy collaborating on fresh ideas together,” beams Stephanie George ‘Tarma Girl Owner', wife and educator.

The Active line – crafted from recycled stainless steel, accessory cord and nylon webbing – incorporates literal interpretations of active endeavors, such as surfing, biking and hiking, into high-quality, durable pieces that look like silver, and will never tarnish. Pieces include earrings, pendants, wristbands and even bottle openers. The Artisan line – custom-crafted in a variety of materials by skilled artisans in South America through fair trade – offers beautiful and culturally-distinct handmade pieces for women, including earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets.

Through targeted PR efforts, On the Horizon Communications plans to bring increased visibility to both of the Tarma collections, as well as to the important social, environmental and ethical values that guide the brand.

“In addition to offering truly unique and high-quality products that appeal to a variety of different markets that we specialize in, the conscious philosophy behind Tarma is also very much aligned with our own,” said Holly Padove, president of Horizon. “That said, we think the fit couldn't be more perfect and we are very excited to welcome Tarma as a client.”

Tarma Designs blends sustainable, high-quality materials, fair trade practices, distinct design elements and the spirit of adventure and exploration to create its two lines of fashionable, socially and environmentally conscious personal art. The Active line brings a love of the outdoors to life for men and women with symbols inspired by active adventures immortalized in recycled stainless steel pendants, earrings, wristbands and bottle openers. The Artisan line offers limited, handmade pieces such as earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets representative of the unique cultures of the skilled artisans who craft them.
