Horizon Fitness Treadmill Featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Three hundred audience members of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Burbank, Calif. were treated to a special holiday surprise on Tuesday when they received a free treadmill from Horizon Fitness.

COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. (December 12, 2006) – Three hundred audience members of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Burbank, Calif. were treated to a special holiday surprise on Tuesday when they received a free treadmill from Horizon Fitness. The new RST5.6 treadmill – which retails for $899 and is sold exclusively at Sears – was showcased on the popular “12 Days of Giveaways,” a special holiday promotion that gives audience members free product hand-selected by Ellen DeGeneres and the show's producers.

“We were approached by the show several months back,” said Mike Olson, vice president of marketing for Horizon Fitness. “They were big fans of our products and wanted to include us in the show. We were excited to participate because Ellen reaches such main-stream audience. A lot of her viewers are people like you and me who are interested in bettering their health and getting into shape. Our new RST5.6 treadmill is designed for this type of person. It's intuitive and easy to use…it's a great performance-based treadmill for first-time users or those who want a great workout without the hassle.”

Today, fitness equipment can often be intimidating, overly complicated or difficult to use – especially for first time users. To combat this issue, Horizon Fitness developed the RST5.6 treadmill, which incorporates a new technology designed to simplify user operation and increase safety.

The treadmill uses a new display technology called PERFECTviewâ„¢, which allows users to adjust the console display for optimal viewing. Similar to a laptop computer screen that folds up and down, PERFECTview can be adjusted to achieve a viewing angle that is easy to read and reduces glare. To further enhance ease-of-use, the console features a blue LCD screen, which is easy on the eyes and makes information gathering fast and easy.

“This new display technology is ideal for people who are above or below average in height, or perhaps have less than perfect eyesight,” Olson said. “Users have the freedom and flexibility to customize the display based on their individual needs. This makes treadmill use simple and less intimidating.”

In addition to the PERFECTview technology, the RST5.6 is designed to perform. The treadmill is powered by a strong, 1.75 hp continuous-duty motor with a digital drive system. The digital drive offers consistent, quiet speed and smooth transitions between speeds. Users can operate the treadmill between .5 and 10 mph with an incline range between zero and 10 percent.

The RST5.6 features a large, 20" x 55" running area with the ORTHOflexâ„¢ cushioning system, which reduces stress to the joints and lower back. When not in use, the treadmill folds up using the SOFTdropâ„¢ lift system, which incorporates a hydraulic shock for fast, safe storage.

Other key features include six preset programs, a handgrip heart rate monitor and a strong, durable frame with a weight capacity of 275 lbs. Horizon offers a lifetime warranty on the frame and an eight-year warranty on the motor.
