Heidiskis Heads to SIA Snow Show for First Time with a New Full Quiver

Vevey, Switzerland, January 25, 2011 — Heidiskis, the Swiss handmade ski maker, introduces the “Spirit of the Alps” series including new big mountain and powder models for the 2011/12 season. Heidiskis is also expanding its Tribute to Tibet series with PRO versions of its All Mountain and Freeride models for a comprehensive offering that will be introduced at the 2011 SIA Snow Show (Booth # 4578) in Denver, CO January, 27-30, 2011.

“This will be our first time exhibiting at the Snow Show and we’re excited to introduce our brand to more US retailers with our largest assortment of skis to date,” said Heidi Blum, Heidiskis founder and president. “We have skis for all terrain from the deep steeps of the Alps to the manicured groomers of the central Rockies.”

The 2011/12 Spirit of the Alps eco friendly line is produced with locally sourced materials and the most sustainable construction methods possible. The new line features high-end construction and gorgeous wood veneers with show-through titanal graphics. The skis are produced with non-solvent based inks, wood sidewalls, recycled bases and non-petroleum based wax.

The Heidiskis new big mountain ski, The Stealth Spirit features a full wood core with a flat tail design and 300mm of tip rocker. The Stealth Spirit is designed for backcountry terrain and deftly handles high-speed power turns, quick maneuvers through couloirs, and landings off big drops. It is also available in the Tribute to Tibet model the Stealth Dragon PRO.

Expanding the brand’s breadth of ski offering and versatility, Heidiskis introduces its new deep powder ski the “Powder for the People”. At 124mm underfoot, the ski is the brand’s widest to date, which along with 300mm of rocker tip provides a stable platform that floats effortlessly through crud and powder. Complimenting the Spirit of Alps collection POW Spirit is the Tribute to Tibet series Powder Dragon PRO model endorsed by freeskiing legend Kent Kreitler.

Heidiskis Tribute to Tibet Freeride Black Dragon PRO and All Mountain Black Dragon PRO skis, are designed from the same specifications as the original Freeride and All Mountain models, but with a 35% stiffer flex. The PRO models, offer the same versatility as the original, but are designed for the more aggressive skier who needs the added rigidity for high speed performance on the groomers and in the glades. Both models feature a Himalayan dragon motif and as with all Tribute to Tibet models, Heidiskis contributes 10% of all sales to the American Himalayan Foundation.

All Heidiskis models are handmade in Switzerland. Every ski features a tip-to-tail wood core comprised of hand-selected, mature Swiss White Ashe for the ultimate combination of longevity, flex and strength.
