OAKLAND, Calif. – Haiku by Sharon Eisenhauer, Inc., creator of poetically functional accessories for women, announces that its founder, designer, and creator, Sharon Eisenhauer, has received the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center “Established Entrepreneur of the Year” award for 2010.

According to Renaissance, the award considers gross annual sales, employee growth (or job creation within the local economy), profitability, community involvement and/or support of Renaissance, innovativeness of product, business values (exhibits socially conscious and responsible choices) and triumph over significant obstacles.

“I would not be receiving this award were it not due to the incredible hard work of my team and our customers. An entrepreneur does not do it alone,” Eisenhauer said. “I am so appreciative to Renaissance for this award. The structure, tools and support they taught me gave me the ability to succeed in a way that I never had before.”

Renaissance Entrepreneurship has three Bay Area centers. The mission of Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center is to empower and increase the entrepreneurial capacities of socially and economically diverse women and men, and thereby strengthen communities through the creation of new businesses, new jobs, and the promotion of financial self-sufficiency. Renaissance serves more than 1,500 women and men annually who in turn start and grown over 400 businesses.

Launched in 2004, Haiku is now available in close to 500 doors nationwide. The company has experienced double-digit growth over the last several years, and is expanding its executive team and looking to hire a new Sales & Marketing Manager. Haiku is growing its product offering as well, and just launched a new eco collection called Rumi in the Fall of 2010. Rumi bags are made with cyclePET, which is created from 100-percent post consumer recycled beverage bottles.
