GU Partners with Bay Area Track Club

Berkeley, CA – GU Energy Labs, the originator of energy gels, today announced a comprehensive product partnership with Bay Area Tack Club (BATC).

The BATC, founded in 2009, is headed up by a group of elite athletes and coaches residing in the Bay Area. An approved USA Distance Center, the BATC develops and supports world-class runners and also promotes running, health and fitness in the Bay Area community through events such as instructional clinics, meet appearances, group fun runs, peer mentoring, motivational seminars, and running camps.

“The BATC is an organization bursting with incredibly good people and with a lot of potential,” said GU Energy Marketing Manager Brooke Kennedy. “We're honored to be involved.”

In 2011, the BATC will grow to include a club team, open to all ages and levels. “We are seeing a ton of interest and support, and we are proud to have that growth come from such strong, local roots,” said Tony Kauke, President and Co-Founder of the BATC. He added, “As I've grown to know the GU brand and the people who work there, I couldn't be more confident in such an essential and pertinent partnership. It's a perfect marriage.”

GU will take part in next week's Marathon Speaker Series, Marathon Nutrition. GU athlete and Olympian Magda Lewy Boulet and world-class marathoner Peter Gilmore will speak about the basics of proper nutrition for any point in a runner's season.
