Action sports apparel company launches flagship line of high-style skate and street shoes

Portland, OR—September 24, 2008— Grenade Gloves, one of the fastest-growing names in action sports, is stomping its distinctive footprint onto a line of shoes designed to shred any obstacle and look good doing it. Developed for riders by riders, Grenade shoes are at home in the park, at the mountain or on the streets.

The line is built on simple, classic designs, twisted into colors and patterns that only the madmen at Grenade could dream up. And quality is key.

“Our greatest test to this point has been researching and developing a shoe that fits well, performs great, and looks as if it came out of the mind of a crazed Navy War Junkie that needed a product that would stay together after getting some serious abuse on all fronts,” says Grenade President and two-time Olympic Silver Medalist Snowboarder Danny Kass. “We wanted to create a simple product we could adapt our image and style to, so we could stop buying into these companies that don't listen to kids or skateboarders when designing products.”

Grenade is kicking off its premier line with four styles designed to complement its range of clothing and outerwear. There's the Halfer, a mid-cut leather shoe with ankle support where you need it and a vulcanized sole for just the right amount of friction. It retails for $49.95. The DK Standard Isshoe is Danny Kass' signature shoe – a boat shoe that's 180 degrees from its preppy predecessors. It's priced at $29.95 MSP, and is a canvas slip-on tricked out in fresh colors and graphics. It's also a fully-functional skate shoe. Try popping a switch heelflip in ordinary boat shoes, and you'll see what makes the DK Standard Isshoe so special. The Skater is a leather lace-up low-top, with the Grenade logo stamped into its hide and plenty of sole grip for grinding. The Casual is a leather/canvas blend in a classic lace-up low-top style that blows away cookie cutter skate shoes with its clean yet unique design. The Skater and the Casual both retail for $39.95 MSP. The shoes will hit stores in Spring ‘09. For more information, including a list of retailers, visit
