Gramicci Booth To sizzle With Excitement

--Bicycle auction and clothing decorating contest, t-shirt donation program set for OR

SALT LAKE CITY (8/7/08)— Gramicci, the outdoor lifestyle apparel manufacturer, will host several traffic-stopping activities in its show-stopping booth (10001) at OR this week.

To promote its new Urban Biking apparel line, Gramicci will feature a bike auction on Sunday where attendees can bid on four specially decorated bikes and helmets donated by Raleigh. The bikes were decorated by a creative collaboration of the Gramicci design team and bike enthusiasts including Jackson Chandler, Susan Foster, Sarah Mark, Michelle Yi , Natalie Sitchko, and freelance artist Mark Kulakoff. The bike auction will begin Friday, August 8, and concluding Sunday August 10.

Gramicci's staff will don samples of the Urban Biking line and ride the decorated bikes to the Rock and Ice climbing wall Friday at 1:30 and Saturday at 1:00 pm. The proceeds from the auction will benefit Gramicci-targeted causes, including Outdoor Outreach and Pure Water For the World, according to Marty Weening, Gramicci's President. The winning bids will be announced Sunday at the company's booth.

The bicycle theme is in keeping with a move by a number of Gramicci employees who have dramatically cut down on their driving to lead a trend across America to Drive Less- Bike More. The company's new Urban Biking line features clothes that are suitable for biking, but are appropriate for work environments, too.

Additionally, Gramicci will stage a design contest ala Project Runway, where the audience participates by designing outfits with “wearable” netting. Netting is the main theme at the booth, which is constructed of mosquito netting that will be donated to Spreadthenet.org upon completion of the show. The international organization provides nets to prevent the spread of malaria in numerous countries.

Gramicci will supply netting, tape, scissors and staplers – participants will provide the creativity. The importance of the netting and Spreadthenet.org will be discussed during the design contest. Netting winners will receive Gramicci gift certificates.

A final promotion that will be announced at OR is a t-shirt program where Gramicci will donate a portion of total profits from its graphic T's to Outdoor Outreach, a non-profit organization. Outdoor Outreach's mission is to empower at-risk youth by giving them the opportunity to gain confidence and self-esteem through participation in outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, snowboarding, rock climbing, and more. Each garment will be shipped with a special hangtag alerting consumers to the donation.
