Glenoit Fabrics – All American, once again!

With the backing of a local investor and business man, Glenoit Fabrics TT Corporation, as the new venture is called, started operation on April 1. The company will continue the Glenoit tradition of excellence in pile fabrics. While the economic environment is challenging, the Glenoit concept of “quick turnaround, quality, and customized product differentiation through fabrics and service” takes the uncertainty out of an uncertain market.

When struggling Glenoit was forced to sell their sliver knit division to rival Shanghai Haixin in 2002, it looked like the end of yet another American Textile Icon.

Based on Glenoit’s reputation, Haixin was able to establish itself as the leading exporter of faux fur garments. Haixin’s focus was on the garment business, increasing output for their factories in China.

In 2005 Haixin hired industry insider Bill Trienekens to reposition and restructure Glenoit Fabrics (HG) Corporation, Haixin’s North American sliver knit production. Glenoit consolidated their Canadian and US factories into the Tarboro facility. Under his leadership Glenoit built an innovative work sourcing concept. The program empowered the employees, now providing their skills under the umbrella and leadership of Jerry Howard, President of Tarboro Textiles, to focus on quick turnaround, quality and customer satisfaction in an entrepreneurial fashion.

“Tarboro Textiles and the dedicated, skilled work force provided the crucial turn around for the U.S. sliver knit operation. The cooperation between Glenoit and Tarboro Textiles was so successful, that Haixin decided to exit the textile manufacturing business in North America and entrust the business to Jerry Howard”, emphasized Trienekens.

“Our customers are looking for sources close to home. We understand them and we know how provide solutions in textiles and services that will add to their bottom line! We are excited about the opportunity, we have the support of the work force, our suppliers and community, and most importantly of our customers!”, stated Howard.
