From the Gnar to the Bar, Forsake’s All-Weather Kicks Keep Your Feet Dry and Fly

Crowdfunded Footwear Company Brings Steeze to the 2013 Summer Outdoor Retailer

Boston, Massachusetts (SNEWS) July 18, 2013 – What do urban sneakers and hiking boots have in common? Until recently the only similarity was that they both went on your feet. Forsake, a footwear company based out of Boston, is bridging the gap between fashion and function by combining the practical technology of a hiking boot with the aesthetic of an urban sneaker.

Founded in 2012 by Sam Barstow and Jake Anderson, Forsake was created after the two college buddies moved out West to work at Alta, Utah and Big Sky, Montana. During their work-cations, they noticed a common problem with their friends’ footwear – skate shoes and snow don’t mix, but neither does steeze and hiking boots.

“After a day on the slopes, our friends would switch out of their ski or board boots and into their skate shoes,” recalls Sam Barstow, Forsake President and COO. “None of us wanted to buy a pair of hiking boots we’d only use a couple times. So we’d always end up with soggy socks and cold feet.”

“That’s where we got the idea for Forsake,” explains Jake Anderson, Forsake CEO. “We wanted to design a shoe that could handle the rugged, outdoor lifestyle while still looking good on the street.”

As stylish as they are practical, their current collection includes the Hiker, the Pilot and the Thurston, all of which feature a waterproof and breathable membrane, gusseted tongue, dual-density EVA midsole and composite shank.

Successfully funded on Kickstarter in December 2012, Forsake started receiving orders for their current collection by March 2013 and a few months later they began meeting with retail outlets about their Spring 2014 line, which will feature more high-top inspired designs.

Forsake will be attending the 2013 Summer Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City, Utah at Booth PV738 located in the Salt Palace Convention Center from July 31 to August 3. Shoes from their current collection can be reserved online at www.forsake.co and will be available at select U.S. retail stores and via the company’s website starting August 1.
