Woolrich, Pennsylvania, For Immediate Release — 2013 marks Woolrich’s 183rd anniversary of making wool in the United States. It also marks the 30th anniversary of Manhattan Portage’s founding. The two Mid-Atlantic brands have teamed up to create a collection of Manhattan Portage’s most popular designs featuring wool from the storied Woolrich Woolen mill.
“Manhattan Portage has always made functional and durable packs and we’re proud to be a part of its milestone celebration,” said Patrick Nebiolo, Woolrich Executive Vice President. “They have selected some of our most classic wools for a collection that reflects the best from both our brands.”
From the forests of Pennsylvania to the streets of New York City, the Woolrich + Manhattan Portage collection of packs, bags, purses, messenger bags, and waist bags feature two traditional Woolrich wool designs; Buffalo Check, the classic Woolrich pattern and Pea Coat, the same fabric used for the West Point Cadet’s jacket.
Woolrich has been producing Buffalo Check fabrics from its mill, the nation’s longest continually operating woolen mill, since the mid-1800’s. It has since become a hallmark of the brand and beloved by outdoorsmen and women around the world. This collaborative collection features the classic Buffalo Check fabrics in three colors, the archetypal red/black, along with white/ black, and navy/black. Prices for the bag styles range from $49 - $95.
