Four Corners School of Outdoor Education, a non-profit conservation and education organization that protects the Colorado Plateau, proudly honors the Katadyn Group, a leading producer of water purification products, with its first ever “Paddle Captain Award.”

This award recognizes Katadyn's commitment to the mission of Four Corners School, to create lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau bioregion (Southern Utah, Southwest Colorado, Northwest New Mexico and Northern Arizona) for people of all ages and backgrounds through education, service, adventure, and conservation programs.

Four Corners School Executive Director Janet Ross, joined by Board Members Seth Levy and Fred Oswald, presented the Paddle Captain Award to Adrian Schmassmann, Owner and Chairman of the Katadyn Group at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT.

In presenting the award, Ms. Ross announced, “We sincerely appreciate the Katadyn Group's commitment to our mission. The Colorado Plateau is filled with American treasures like the Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalate National Monument, and Arches National Park. By educating the next generation of stewards of these lands, we help to ensure them a prosperous, healthy future. The Katadyn Group has shown real vision and leadership in the outdoor industry, and their contributions are helping us make a bigger difference right now.”

In accepting the award, Mr. Schmassmann shared, “Since the 1930's, Katadyn has been honored to assist organizations like the Four Corners School. We are committed to protecting beautiful, natural places, and ensuring that that next generation is committed not only to enjoying the outdoors, but to stewardship. Katadyn is serious about supporting projects that encourage youth and help protect the environment. In these efforts, the people and projects are the most important, not Katadyn. We help out of conviction, not for image.”
