Carrboro, N.C. – Fleet Feet Sports, the retail leader in building and supporting thriving local running communities, announces that Mark Miller will become the new operator of Fleet Feet Sports in Pleasanton, Calif., taking over the business from current owners Debbie and Ethan Falls. The change in ownership takes place May 31.
The Falls, long-time customers of the store, first purchased the location in 2007 from its previous owners. Over the last nine years, they expanded and moved the business to its current location at 234-A Main Street in a remodeled building at the south end of town.
“I’m really happy for Debbie and Ethan in the fact that they created a legacy of serving the community and are now able to pass that on to someone just as passionate about the brand and empowering the community as they are,” says Jeff Phillips, CEO and president of Fleet Feet Sports. “Fleet Feet Sports puts community and customers first, and our infrastructure allows stores to thrive and transition in situations like this when current owners exit the business so that the support and focus on the community never waivers.”
A Fleet Feet Sports employee since 2013, Miller has led training and staff development at the store for the past three years. Miller first developed a passion for entrepreneurship and local ownership in the security alarm industry, where he built several successful companies.
“It is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of Debbie and Ethan, and I thank them for all of the support and opportunity they’ve given to me,” says Miller. “I look forward to using my experiences over the past couple of years in supporting the Pleasanton community and providing the best possible service and experience for every person who walks through the door.”
“Mark has a passion for helping people in all areas of his life,” says Debbie Falls. “We were so fortunate when he joined our team, and are thrilled he will be at the helm of Fleet Feet Sports. Ethan and I can look forward to the next opportunity and enjoy some time off knowing how committed Mark is to taking care of our customers and staff.”
Ethan Falls will also continue to coach for Fleet Feet Sports running programs and manage Health Unlimited, his family’s two health food stores.
The leader in franchising locally owned-and-operated, community-oriented running stores, Fleet Feet Sports supports its stores from its headquarters in Carrboro, N.C. and celebrates its 40-year anniversary in 2016.
