Carrboro, N.C. – Fleet Feet Sports, the retail leader in building and supporting thriving local running communities, announces that John Raveling will become the new operator of Fleet Feet Sports in Decatur, Ga., taking over the business from current owner Clay Scarborough.
Scarborough opened the specialty running retail location in 2009. Since then, the store has served the Decatur running community through training programs, local race support, and partnership with local charities.
An industry veteran with 35 years experience, Raveling spent 13 of those years at the Boulder Running Company in Colorado, and most recently was a district manager for the Run Specialty Group, where he oversaw 12 running stores.
“Clay and his staff have done a fantastic job with Fleet Feet Sports Decatur over the past eight years,” says Raveling. “Atlanta that has such a rich running history and culture, and I’m pumped about the opportunities we have to engage, excite, and empower runners and other partners in the community.”
Fleet Feet Sports Decatur will be celebrating this transition the weekend of June 24-26 with various events including a fun run, and a “Brunch and Bras” event. Discounts and raffles will also be offered throughout the weekend.
Fleet Feet Sports has a total of seven locations across the state of Georgia. In addition to Decatur, the Atlanta area has stores in Johns Creek, Lawrenceville, and Sandy Springs. Other locations in Georgia include Athens, Augusta, and Savannah.
The leader in franchising locally owned-and-operated, community-oriented running stores, Fleet Feet Sports supports its stores from its headquarters in Carrboro, N.C. and celebrates its 40-year anniversary in 2016.
