Men’s and women’s fall 2016 layering styles combine warming fabric technology with next-to-skin softness for lasting comfort in cold-weather destinations.

Seattle, WA – ExOfficio®, the leading brand of travel apparel designed to provide comfortable performance solutions for travelers, has engineered a remarkably soft, comfortable, and lightweight layer for fall 2016, which uses the traveler’s natural body heat to stay warm in colder climates.

One of the biggest challenges travelers face when packing for cold-weather destinations is the space taken up by thermal layers in what would otherwise be a small, lightweight bag. Often, tradeoffs are made, leaving some favorite travel gear at home in order to pack the insulated layers that traditionally add weight and bulk, yet are crucial for a comfortable travel experience. ExOfficio’s solution to this problem is found in the new S° Warm™ fabric technology, which has been optimized in a collection of lightweight layering shirt styles for men and women.

“The fabric technology actively creates warmth by using and retaining your own natural body heat, so from the moment you put the shirt on until you take it off, it feels as comfortable as a second skin,” said Johanna Rundquist, design materials manager for ExOfficio. “With a silk-like feel and natural wicking and anti-microbial properties, it’s an ideal base or first layer that will last an entire trip, through a wide variety of colder climate travel explorations and activities.”

ExOfficio’s S° Warm fabric technology increases warmth up to 5 degrees Fahrenheit by transferring the energy of the skin’s natural vapors and infrared rays to generate and retain warmth in a cozy microclimate between the wearer’s skin and the fabric. By retaining heat in such a soft, lightweight fabric, the shirts can be worn as an insulating layer on their own, or combined with a windproof outer layer for added protection and comfort, without bulkiness. SILVADUR™ anti-microbial treatment provides natural odor-resistance, helping the wearer feel fresh throughout the trip.
