Exel Sports NA, fully owned subsidiary to Exel Oyj, a Finnish manufacturer and developer of composite consumer products including cross-country ski, alpine ski, trekking and Nordic Walking poles today announced it has introduced an innovative NTech® technology to be used for its cross-country racing poles.

Exel's new NTech®, technology concept combines integrated carbon nano-particles with the Exel computer animated Co-Wound production technology which provides better swing weight and higher strength to weight ratios. The NTech® Carbon is being released early to allow everyone to take advantage of its unbelievable qualities which include a six percent reduction in weight and thirty percent increased stiffness. In the first phase, NTech® will be used in the popular Exel World Cup and Black Feather cross-country racing poles to be used by competitive skiers. Once the technology takes off, the NTech® Carbon will be used in the other Exel Nordic poles, which will revolutionize the Nordic ski pole industry.

“As the world leading manufacturer of composite consumer poles and accessories, we have years of experience creating new innovations and technologies that continue to transform the pole industry,” said Dave Michael, North American sales manager for Exel. “The new NTech®, technology concept is another innovation that will enhance the power and durability of our poles which in-turn will help our consumers performance and strength.”

Exel has a proven track record of bringing first-to-market technologies to the composite consumer pole industry with the first composite cross-country pole in 1973, the first Carbon Fiber ski pole in 1976, Kevlar wrapped ski poles in 1987, High Modulus Carbon shafts in 1993 and the first Nordic Walking pole in 1997. Today, the company continues to develop new and innovative products including an updated version of its Black Feather and World Cup racing poles, which are used by competitive skiers all over the world. Additionally, the company leads the way in the development and sales of trekking, Alpine skiing and Nordic Walking and Nordic Blading poles.
