EnerPlex Powers Up OR With The World's Lightest Solar and Brand's First Waterproof Battery

THORNTON, Colo. (August 1, 2016) — EnerPlex, a leading manufacturer of innovative portable power solutions, will debut two new products at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. The two products feature solar panels, which shed half the weight of preceding models, and waterproof batteries. The launch is the most ambitious product development since the brand’s founding in 2013.

Enerplex Always in Charge Orange

“The need for reliable, durable and portable power in the outdoors is increasing each year as people’s adventures require the use of electronics,” said Justin Jacobs, EnerPlex’s director of marketing. “These new portable power products introduce technologies that increase the feasibility and reliability of electronics in rugged environments more than ever before.”

The Explor 67 is a fully waterproof, 7,800 mAh battery that meets the military-grade IP67 waterproof, shockproof and dustproof rating. It is one of the only batteries on the market to meet stringent waterproofing requirements. The Explor 67 puts out 5V/2.1 amps of power and will charge small electronics, such as smartphones, GPS units, cameras or tablets, via a USB port. Unlike other water-resistant batteries that are merely encased in a water-resistant box, the Explor 67’s waterproofing is internal, making it smaller and easier to use.

The Kickr FL is EnerPlex’s lightest solar panel to-date, weighing 50 percent less than the already minimal Kickr IV panel. It comes in 6.25 watt or 9 watt versions and features EnerPlex’s unique flexible plastic solar film technology. While most panels use a glass or metal-sheet backing, EnerPlex uses a proprietary, flexible plastic manufacturing technique, saving weight and adding durability while not sacrificing efficiency. EnerPlex’s parent company, Ascent Solar, developed the technology for aerospace applications in which weight and durability are not compromised.

“The majority of the weight of the old Kickr series was not the solar material itself, but was rather the layers of material we use to encapsulate the solar to protect it from the elements,” said Jacobs. “The weight savings of the FL series is a result of our R&D team completely re-thinking how flexible solar can be still be used while also minimizing weight and the amount of material used.”

EnerPlex will display its new products, as well as its entire product line, Aug. 3-6 in booth No. 617 at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City. For media appointments please contact: corbin.clement@backbonemedia.net
