(Greensboro, North Carolina) – Native Watercraft has introduced a unique electric drive for the Ultimate and Mariner MultiSport kayaks that defines a new, green alternative for boaters interested in traveling quickly to a destination to paddle or pole, fish, bird watch or take photographs.

“The power and control combination for our electric drive MultiSport boats offer unparalleled maneuverability, radically different from electric boats powered from the stern,” notes Andy Zimmerman, President and CEO of Native Watercraft parent company Legacy Paddlesports. “The electric drive sits just forward of midship with its throttle extension located right in front of the user. The rudder is controlled by the user's feet while sitting in the super comfortable First Class™ seat. You really have to get out on the water to understand the maneuverability that is now available.”

Digital controls allow users to adjust speed with subtle control and saves energy when turning and reversing. Marine grade anodized aluminum, stainless steel components and a non-corrosive finish will perform well in salt water.

The electric drive is confirmed for use in the Ultimate 12, 14.5 MultiSport models. Native Watercraft MultiSport kayaks are also available with the ProPelâ„¢ Pedal Drive (patent pending) and a sailing trimaran.
