Eastern Mountain Sports Introduces Workhorse Pack Series for Men/Women

Women’s Packs Feature Specific Fit for Female Physique, Providing More Comfort

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. (April 19, 2007) – Expanding its backpacking product range targeted at core to novice enthusiasts, Eastern Mountain Sports, one of the nation's leading outdoor specialty retailers, today unveiled the EMS® Workhorse Pack Series for men and women. The Workhorse Pack Series features women's specific fits and ranges in levels from mountaineering to day hiking. Arriving at retail this month, the Solitude, Isolation, North Peak and Trail 70 packs use 420D nylon twill and 840D ballistic on the bottom of the packs with Hypalon accents for durability.

Solitude: For Mountaineering and Extended Backpacking
The Solitude line of packs features a top loading, removable top lid for easy access to gear; waterproof zippered access; stretch water bottle pockets; and an internal sleeve and exit port for hydration bladder use. A thermo molded foam back panel is contoured and channeled for breathability. The Solitude (for men) is 6,000 cubic inches and weighs five pounds and six ounces and has an adjustable fit system. The W's Solitude has a women's specific adjustable fit and contour, is 5,500 cubic inches and weighs five pounds and four ounces. The MSRP is $239.

Isolation: For Multi-day Backpacking Trips
The Isolation features a top loading, removable top lid, side zippered access into the main pack bag, a bottom sleeping bag compartment and stretch water bottle pockets for easy access to essentials. Similar to the Solitude, the W's Isolation is contoured for woman. The MSRP is $199.

North Peak: Overnight and Day Hiking Packs
For the enthusiast seeking a compact pack for overnight trips, day hikes, skiing, peak bagging or climbing, the North Peak series utilizes a fixed suspension; an air-mesh back panel for breathability; a top loading, multi-pocket lid for storage and easy access to gear; side zip access pockets; a “shovit” flap with waterproof zippered pocket; and stretch pockets for water bottles. North Peak 50, the largest of the series, is available in two sizes, 3,000 cubic inches and 3,800 cubic inches. The W's North Peak 50 is three pounds and 13 ounces and has a women's fit specific to the contour of a woman's body to prevent chafing while carrying heavy loads. For the day enthusiast, North Peak 45 is 2,600 cubic inches and weighs only three pounds and nine ounces and has a panel loading main compartment. The MSRP of all North Peak packs is $139.

Trail 70: Entry-Level Pack
Trail 70 is designed for the novice backpacker and is available in three sizes. Trail 70 features include a fixed suspension; top loading multi-pocket lid with an extension; side zip access pocket; bottom sleeping bag compartment; and stretch pockets for water bottles. MSRP is $139.
