NORTHFIELD, VT — Darn Tough Vermont, producers of the most comfortable, durable, all-weather performance socks in the industry, is featured in the inaugural ranking of Inc.'s Hire Power Awards, recognizing private companies that are leading the way in creating American jobs. Darn Tough generated 39 jobs from 2008 to 2011, placing it second among the 10 private business job creators within the state of Vermont.

Founded by third-generation sock maker Ric Cabot in 2004, Darn Tough socks are the premium, performance choice for hikers, bikers, runners, hunters, skiers and anyone who knows the difference a good pair of socks makes. Darn Tough Vermont prides itself on being an American company that operates entirely out of its mill in Northfield, Vermont where all socks are designed, manufactured and tested using skilled Vermont labor. Darn Tough produces the highest quality socks available in the industry, which carry an unparalleled unconditional lifetime guarantee.

“This is a great honor that only continues to prove that you can manufacture world-class products right here in the U.S.,” said Cabot, founder and president of Darn Tough Vermont. “Vermont prides itself on the hard work of the uniquely skilled people that live here and the products that they create. Making socks right here in Vermont gives us an advantage over companies that export from overseas because we have the ability to make quality adjustments instantly, instead of having to wait weeks for changes to be made.”

The Hire Power Awards will appear in Inc.'s December/January issue, as well as on its web site, www.inc.com. Qualified applicants for the award had to be US-based, have been founded in 2007 or earlier, and have at least 50 employees as of December 31, 2011.

Winners of the 2012 Hire Power Awards will be honored on December 6 at the Mead Center in Washington, D.C. For more information about Darn Tough Vermont socks, please visit www.darntough.com.
