Scandinavian Outdoor Group (S.O.G.), the association of 31 Scandinavian outdoor manufacturers has awarded Dale of Norway the prestigious 2007/08 Scandinavian Outdoor Award.

The award is based on a variety of criteria including functionality, quality, innovation, design, environmental and ethical considerations.
The newly launched Dale Knitshell collection won the award among entries from 11 other Scandinavian brands such as Ecco, Norrøna, Craft and Fjällräven. In the award statement, the jury said:” The warmth of the wool combined with Gore Windstopper creates a technical yet beautiful garment that can to be used for both ski trips in the mountains as well as daily city wear. All details are well thought out and nicely mastered.”

Knitshell is the result of a long-term partnership between W.L. Gore and Dale of Norway and combines the unique qualities of the Windstopper membrane and Dale's proprietary water repellent yarn technology. The result is an outer layer that features the windproof and water repellent benefits of a soft shell and the insulating benefits of 100% natural wool. Knitshell is based on a 3-layer system with an outer layer of water repellent wool, an intermediate Windstopper membrane and a soft flannel lining – that has been fused into one layer making the finished product both light weight and highly durable.

"The award is an indication that Dale of Norway once again has found its way back into the sporting industry", says Kristina Hjelde, Knitshell designer at Dale of Norway. "This is
Knitwear reinvented, with whole new set of product features that are normally associated to other types of outerwear".

The Dale Knitshell collection includes seven different products in a variety of colours. Suggested retail prices range from $269 to $399. Product specifications and a list of retailers can be found at www.knitshell.com or www.daleofnorway.com.
