NEW YORK, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2010) – The ad was the seed of the idea. It reads: “If cheetahs had to wear tights, these would be their tights. They'd need a hole for the tail of course.” The ad is for the new Revolution tight by CW-X, and it gave them an idea.
“We saw an opportunity to take the meaning a little further, to use it to help more than runners,” said John L.A. Wilson, president and COO of Wacoal Sports Science Corp.

CW-X tracked down the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) that, as luck would have it, was about to have a dinner celebrating its 20th anniversary. A silent auction would be held as part of the fund-raising at the dinner. It was the perfect opportunity for the “World's Fastest Tights” to help the world's fastest animal, which is severely threatened by human and environmental factors. Two pairs of the limited edition tights, by far the most expensive in the CW-X line, were donated to the auction, which took place at Foley & Lardner LLP in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 27. The event drew over 200 people, a record for CCF fundraisers, and raised a record amount for the charity.

“At CCF Namibia we work hard to ensure the survival of the wild cheetah. Our chapters around the world work as hard to help us meet our financial needs. Tonight's event is yet another outstanding example of great leadership, thanks to a loyal group of talented people who are passionate about the cheetah and believe firmly that their dedication and hard work does makes a difference,” said Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund.

The proceeds from the door, auction, and photos with a live cheetah will be used to raise awareness of the dangers faced by cheetahs, and to help fund the group's conservation outpost in Namibia.
