The Junior Olympics are young people being the best they can in winter sports, Chaos is there to support winter these important developmental winter events. Chaos headwear can be found throughout the Valley Valley at ski and snow shops, as well as high-end specialty retail stores.

In the Junior Olympic circuit, there are three qualifying events for each region, the Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom. Seventy-fine girls and eighty-five boys qualify for the events based on their results at the qualifiers. These young people come from 18 states throughout the rocky mountain and central region. The final is the Junior Olympics, which has been held in Vail for the past three years. It is a week-long event that includes two downhill training days and a down hill race, a super G, GS, and slalom. It includes social events such as an opening parade, athlete social and closing night banquet. The top three winners for boys and girls earn a spot to the coveted Whistler Cup World Games in April.

The Giant Slalom races took place on the Golden Peak course on Vail mountain and the Slalom in Beaver Creek. There were over 15 participants in each final category.

The snow was plentiful in Vail during the event March 9th-11th with ten inches of it covering the track and nearly stopping the boys giant slalom. Luckily, chief of race P.J. Jenick and his crew worked furiously to make race possible.

Cont. Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympics.

“I think people were amazed would even pulled it off,” Ski and Snowboard Club Vail coach J.J. Jensen said. “Everyone worked together and Vail Resorts was nice enough to get us some cats.”

They were able to pull it off thanks to 100 workers, athletes and coaches who spent time getting the course ready. With a plan in place on Monday night, crews went right to work Tuesday. After the two snow cats did as much as they could, the entire field of skiers and coaches took two maintenance runs down the course to remove any loose snow.

The hard work created a firm racing surface.
