Chaco welcomes attendees of the upcoming 2007 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (January 27-30 in Salt Lake City, Utah) and World Shoe Association (February 1-4 in Las Vegas, Nevada) trade shows to support the company's Redefine Child Support fundraiser and directly impact the lives of orphaned children in India. As part of the fundraising effort, Chaco will offer its new Headwaters Kids Sandal collection at a discounted price of $25 at both events, and will donate $10 for each pair sold to the dZi Foundation's Sikkim Happiness Home.
Located in Gangtok, the capitol of Sikkim, India, the Sikkim Happiness Home was established in 2003 by the dZi Foundation as a safe house for orphaned girls. The home is designed to provide shelter, food, medical care, education and emotional support to young girls lacking the influences of a healthy family environment and at risk for being sold into child labor or prostitution. It currently supports seventeen residents and in addition to providing for the girls' basic daily care, it creates the positive environment they need to lay the foundation for a better life and brighter future.
“Chaco has supported the dZi Foundation over the years through our recycled shoe program,†said Chaco Director of Marketing Brian Scranton, “and we proudly expand our efforts in 2007 with the Redefine Child Support fundraiser to directly benefit the residents of the dZi's Sikkim Happiness Home. Even a few thousand dollars raised through this tradeshow fundraising program can cover an orphan's entire annual costs for shelter, food and medical care, and more importantly can provide a protected, caring community for the young girls in Sikkim, India who are in desperate need.â€

Chaco Headwaters Kids Sandals
New for 2007, Chaco redefines child support with their Headwaters Kids Sandals—the only APMA (American Podiatric Medical Association) approved sandals for kids on the market. By stabilizing the heel and promoting control of the foot while in motion, Chaco sandals support growing bone structures and encourage a healthy stride to help children avoid common foot problems. Available in kids' sizes 8-13 and youth sizes 1-6, the collection features an adjustable pull-through strap system to accommodate growing feet, and an open design to keep kids' feet cool and comfy on short walks or long hikes.
Since 1989, Chaco has been designing and producing the finest and best fitting sport sandals available. For more information on the Chaco Headwaters sandals or any Chaco products, contact Kathleen Boyle, Stanwood & Partners PR, 781-544-3675, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
