Camber Outdoors Announces Pitchfest 2017 Judges

Matt Compton, Jill Layfield, Dan Nordstrom, Diana Seung, and Susan Viscon to judge third-annual Pitchfest

Camber Outdoors, the active-outdoor industries organization that works to elevate and accelerate women’s leadership and participation in the outdoors, is thrilled to announce the judges for Pitchfest 2017, which will take place on July 25th, at Petzl headquarters near Salt Lake City. Camber Outdoors Pitchfest drives innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among women with a passion for the outdoors. This year’s seven finalists will pitch their business plans to this esteemed panel of judges: Matt Compton, Technology Entrepreneur and Investor, COO of Simple Finance Jill Layfield, Camber Outdoors Board Member; Co-founder and CEO of Tamara Mellon Dan Nordstrom, CEO of Outdoor Research Diana Seung, EVP of Merchandising, Susan Viscon, Camber Outdoors Board Member; Senior VP of Merchandising and Private Brands, REI “Pitchfest provides a dedicated forum to highlight women business owners in the active outdoor industries,” said Deanne Buck, executive director of Camber Outdoors. “Our Pitchfest 2017 judges were selected based on their business acumen, product development expertise, and industry influence, as well as their commitment to innovation within the industry.” Pitchfest was launched in 2015 as a cornerstone of Camber Outdoors’ programming to elevate women entrepreneurs and accelerate growth and innovation in the active-outdoor industries. Since then, 19 women have live pitched their business plans to a judges panel of top-tier industry executives and a room full of investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. The mentoring and feedback they’ve received have helped Pitchfest participants increase their business sustainability and growth. Now in its third year, Pitchfest has been funded in part by The REI Foundation’s Mary Anderson Legacy Grant since its beginning. This year’s event will also be co-sponsored by Perkins Coie and Backcountry, and through a partnership with Brandlive, Pitchfest 2017 will be live streamed for broader exposure.
