Steamboat Springs company adds international distribution, workforce, and team riders.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLO. (July 10, 2015): With inflatables becoming a more highly respected part of SUP quivers worldwide, Hala Gear, the Steamboat Springs, Colo.-based standup paddleboard company standing out for its innovative inflatable SUPs, is hitting the water running for the 2015/16 sales season with increased sales, a larger marketing staff, and a distribution network expanding to Asia.

“This sport is exploding and it’s been a huge year for us,” says company founder and president Peter Hall, who launched Hala Gear in 2011 to produce boards serving accomplished and aspiring whitewater kayakers, inland surfers and flat-water adventurers. “We are unveiling some really distinctive new designs and remarkable innovations that I hope will keep everyone excited about this category and the Hala brand.“

Founded in 2011, the relatively young company is showcasing a stunning line of high-end inflatable SUPs, custom paddles, and whitewater-specific innovations at this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (booth PV1115). About this year’s show, Hall says, “With some of our new designs, minds will be blown.”

Hala Gear is making the quick leap from small start-up to maturing enterprise. The brand’s international presence expanded this summer through a deal inked with Japanese distributor A&F Corp., increasing its distribution network into Asia. Hala has also partnered with California sales and rep agency The Duran Group to help manage its rep base and accelerate sales efforts and retailer support. The company boosted its marketing team this spring with the addition of sales and marketing pro Jimmy Hostetler, a lifelong paddler with a strong business background, on heels of its recent addition of in-house industrial designer Pavla Mertlik.

“Our sales are growing tremendously through the US and abroad,” said Hall, “and this Japanese distribution deal with A&F is a huge step to growing Hala’s international presence and distribution. The relationship with The Duran Group is exciting because it allows us to coordinate with our reps and team ambassadors in the field to provide top-quality service to every one of our retailer partners,” he says. Even Hala’s fleet of team riders has grown to more than 20, all of whom are flying the Hala Gear flag on podiums and at events around the country.

At the foundation of Hala Gear’s strong reputation among consumers and retail partners is the refined design and materials of its PSI, or Performance Shape Inflatables. All Hala boards are designed with the highest-quality materials, progressive shaping, 6” inch drop-stitch construction, double reinforced seams and more, guaranteeing the most durable, high-performance inflatable SUPs available anywhere in the world. Hala also boasts the longest warranty in the category—three years vs. 90 days for most companies.
