Representing Western North Carolina, Blue Ridge Chair Works was awarded a 2017 Governors Award by North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper, on January, 31 2018. The award, that was given to five NC companies, recognizes the brand’s dedication to growing through exporting, and supporting thousands of jobs across the state.

“It is very humbling and very gratifying to be given this award,” Chief-Chairman Alan Davis said. “We realized there were people all over the world who would value a comfortable, durable chair. It’s so rewarding to be recognized for doing something that I love and believe in. What started as just a hobby tinkering in my basement has really blossomed into a global enterprise.”

According to North Carolina Department of Commerce, the award honors companies who represent North Carolina’s strong business reputation around the world. Blue Ridge Chair Works are based in Asheville, NC and manufactured by Liberty Wood Products in Franklin, NC. Over the last few years they have done business with eight foreign markets.

“The people who really deserve the awards are the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (NCEDP) or some legislator that had the revelation that maybe they should divert some resources to people like me that are just hard-working, simple businessmen,” Davis said of his award. “It’s deeply satisfying.”
