Black Diamond Equipment Ltd., a global leader in climbing, skiing and backcountry gear, has reached a significant milestone in treating and re-using 100% of the waste water from both their in-house tumbling and anodizing processes at their Asia based facility in Zhuhai, China. This achievement has the twin benefits of minimizing water consumption and eliminating the need to dispose of treated wastewater into the municipal sewer system.

"We are very proud to reach this milestone,” says Ryan Gellert, Managing Director of BD Asia. “Now that the waste water treatment process is relatively stable, we will begin to focus on minimizing electricity usage and eliminating acids used in traditional anodization. By establishing in-house anodization and minimizing our global freight volume by leveraging our China-based global distribution center, BD continues to remain focused to our core principals always striving to reduce our environmental footprint.”

At their headquarters in SLC, Utah, Black Diamond is pleased to announce the addition of Jeffrey Wammer to the Product team. Wammer brings with him more than a decade of footwear experience and will lead future R&D efforts for BD’s growing ski boot category. Wammer most recently served as Director of Development at END Footwear and prior to that as VP of Product at Montrail. Other staff moves include the hiring of Susannah Pratt as Logistics Coordinator and promotion of Mike Duncan to Sales Rep. for the Southern California and nearby SW regions.

On the marketing side, Adam Chamberlain has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing. Chamberlain, who came from Patagonia in August 2006, was originally hired as BD's Brand Manager.“It gives me great pleasure and pride to share the news that Adam Chamberlin has been promoted to BD’s Vice President of Marketing,” says Peter Metcalf, Black Diamond CEO / President & Co-Founder. “Over the past three and a half years Adam has proven himself as a solid team builder; consensus manager; a very thoughtful person, and one who does not shrink in front of very large challenges. The only thing greater than BD’s future challenges, are our future opportunities and I am confident in Adam’s ability to help BD transform them into a bolder tomorrow.“

Additionally, Black Diamond also added two new ambassadors to their climbing athlete team: Barry Blanchard, known for his prolific alpine ascents around the world, and Paul Robinson, a rising star in the discipline of bouldering.Blanchard and Robinson will be solid company with Will Gadd, Alex Honnold, Tommy Caldwell, Ines Papert, Colin Haley, Adam Ondra, Katie Brown, Nico Favresse, Fred Nicole, Rolo Garibotti, Sonnie Trotter Paxti Usobaiga and the rest of Black Diamond's strong global team.
