Bamboo Bottle Company, maker of the original reusable bamboo bottle, today announced it has partnered with NativeEnergy to offset their projected carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This investment of carbon emission offsets for all business both domestic and international, including shipping, employee travel, tradeshow tour and distribution, will help support and finance the Rainier Biogas Farm Methane to Energy Project in Enumclaw, Washington.
Nestled in the foothills of the Cascades, the agricultural community near Enumclaw has been organizing to build a methane digester for nearly a decade. The Rainier Biogas Project supported in part by Bamboo Bottle Company’s carbon emission offsets, is currently projected to avoid more than 4,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, helping to reduce climate change. The project will also make a significant contribution to water quality in two vulnerable watersheds—removing more than 100 tons of nitrogen and 22 tons of phosphorus from manure spread on cropland each year.
“We are very excited about working with NativeEnergy and the Rainier Biogas Farm Methane to Energy Project,” says Senior Vice President Patrick Carland of Bamboo Bottle Company. “NativeEnergy is already working with brands that we admire and the Rainier project is a tangible way for Bamboo Bottle Company to make a positive local environmental impact in addition to creating a better bottle for a better planet.”
Jeff Bernicke, COO and President of NativeEnergy, remarked, “By helping build the Rainier project, Bamboo Bottle Company is taking an important stand against climate change. But their positive action doesn’t end there. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions during the eight-year lifetime of the project, they are also supporting family-owned farms and protecting two watersheds. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
