BOULDER, CO (January 29, 2015) - Continuing the mission to elevate the knowledge set of winter backcountry enthusiasts from retailers to staff to consumers - Business of the Backcountry 2.0 in collaboration with Backcountry Starts Here – is hosting four days of panels at the Snowsports Industry of America (SIA) tradeshow.
SIA is sponsoring three full days of panels at the SIA show, taking place in Denver this week in the SIA Backcountry Experience booth #4565.
SIA’s Backcountry Experience comprises an industry-wide collaboration of manufacturers, forecasters and educators uniting to help promote safer backcountry travel and in addition to featuring a variety of workshops, expert panels and athlete presentations on avalanche awareness over the course of four days, Business of the Backcountry 2.0 will be moderating two workshops.
Schedule of Events
- Thursday January 29, 2015 at 2PM – This hour-long workshop is designed to help retailers create or enhance their online presence as an avalanche resource for their communities. The Verde Retail Workshop includes “how-to” instructions for creating additional value to customers on your owned media channels. This workshop will also include an open Q&A session for retailers—or manufacturers—who have specific questions about becoming an online resource for avalanche awareness.
- Friday January 30, 2015 at 10AM - Verde’s second panel, Media & Avalanches: Safety messaging, content & accident accounts, is shaping up to be a lively discussion about the role of media in avalanche awareness and education. Topics will include: What obligation do journalists have when covering avalanche safety and accidents? What do media representatives think about how avalanche safety fits into their priorities and messaging? Or how they can change cultural perceptions about what defines a quality experience?
Featuring media representatives from Powder, Backcountry Magazine and TGR, these are just a few questions Verde will be asking the panel of premier ski journalists.
Programming is spearheaded by Backcountry Starts Here, an industry-wide collaboration of manufacturers, forecasters and educators uniting to help promote safer backcountry travel.
Summaries and key takeaways from these live SIA events will be recapped in Module V of Business of the Backcountry 2.0.
