SAN LEANDRO, California—July 27, 2009—The North Face, the world’s premier supplier of authentic, innovative and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear, today announced team results of the White River 50 Mile Trail Run, USA Track and Field (USATF) Trail Run Championships which took place July 25, 2009 in Washington state.
The North Face Endurance Team athlete Kami Semick won the women’s category with a time of 7:57:35 (just five weeks after she won the International Association of Ultrarunners 100K World Cup). This was her fourth time completing the race. Teammate Prudence L’Heureux took second with a time of 8:19:53. In the men’s category, team athlete Michael Wardian took second with a time 6:51:50, one minute faster than his 2008 winning time.
“The other times I’ve run this race, it had been a close battle, and three times I've taken second. This is the first time I've been able to have my head up and enjoy the views of Mount Rainier,” said Semick. “I think it says something about the quality of The North Face team to take three of the top four spots between men and women.”
The 50-mile course, which features spectacular views, reaches a height of 8,700 feet, with a total elevation change of 17,400 feet. The race boasts rolling terrain, ridge tops, northwest forest, several sections of technical trails, demanding climbs and steep descents. This year more than 200 of the world’s strongest endurance athletes competed.
