Arc'teryx Announces Sponsorship of Snow Guardians

Technical leader in outdoor performance apparel sponsors upcoming documentary film that captures the lives and work of ski patrol and search and rescue teams in the Rocky Mountains.

(Vancouver, BC) - Arc'teryx, the technical leader in outdoor performance apparel, is proud to announce its sponsorship of F9Photo's Snow Guardians, an upcoming documentary film that captures the lives and work of ski patrol and search and rescue teams in the Rocky Mountains.

In its second season of filming, Snow Guardians is a unique effort to educate the public on the training and equipment needed to safely enjoy the beauty of snow.

Filmed in remote and often inhospitable mountain environments where dedicated ski industry professionals call home, Snow Guardians chronicles the daily work of search and rescue technicians, avalanche safety teams and ski patrol staff and the adverse conditions and physical challenges they face while making rapid, life-saving decisions.

“What is truly unique about this film is that it documents the everyday reality of working in snow: the dangers, discomfort, disadvantages and beauty,” said Tom Duguid of Arc'teryx. “It's an inspiring and compelling story and a necessary advance towards heightened awareness and understanding of risk management, this project brings to light the beauty and inexact nature of snow science and the challenges that are a daily part of life and work in breathtakingly beautiful yet dangerous locations,” he added.

Since 2002, Arc'teryx has been quietly working with these professionals to aid efficiency and safety in their daily lives. Individuals who rely on their equipment provide critical feedback. The faster and more comfortable they are, the more immediate and effective their actions.

“The evolution of skiing, lifestyle and pristine visuals draws increasing numbers of people into avalanche terrain,” said Duguid. “Fifteen deaths this year in the Pacific Northwest alone have revealed that a critical need for more information on backcountry safety is apparent.”
