OYSTER BAY, New York (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – Aquapac, makers of 100% waterproof gear, will be giving away Aquapac product to a number of its Facebook fans during the month of April.

An elite panel of international judges (read: A couple of people in Vermont and two other in England who’ve been “volunteered” by their bosses to do this) will judge haiku entries from Aquapac’s Facebook fans posted on Aquapac’s Facebook page. The contest begins Thursday.

The haikus should be themed around April or spring showers and will be judged on their creativity, grammar and whatever else the judges think make one little poem better than another. In some ways, it’ll be like a high school writing class where grades seemed to be based on feel and a certain je ne sais quois.

The haiku must be written in the non-rhymed verse genre, with 5 syllables in the first sentence, 7 in the second and 5 again in the last sentence. While photos are not required, haikus accompanied by an additional photo may serve to sway the judges’ decisions (which are final and cannot be protested).
