Andy Hawk Joins AIM Outdoor Group

Veteran sales leader to manage snowsports titles and other new business.

Boulder, Colo. — Active Interest Media (AIM) today announced that Andy Hawk will join the publisher’s Outdoor Group division in the newly created position of Director of Snowsports and New Business Development. Hawk has been managing ad sales for the Snow Show Daily, a joint venture of AIM and Snowsports Industries America (SIA). He will begin the full-time position in the Outdoor Group’s offices in Boulder, Colo., on April 1, after completing his current contract.

“We’re bullish on the opportunities that are developing in our partnership with SIA, which has an exciting long-term vision for snowsports content and communications,” said Andrew Clurman, AIM’s president. “Andy’s leadership in these efforts has been tremendous, and his effectiveness vis-a-vis clients during a very challenging winter for the industry inspired us to expand his position and portfolio. While his primary focus will be on publishing projects in the snowsports and winter travel market, we expect his talents to help us grow the Outdoor Group, especially with extensions of our primary consumer and trade titles—Backpacker and SNEWS.”

Prior to joining AIM to manage Snow Show Daily, Hawk served as marketing director for the Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors. His media experience also includes sales and marketing positions at SKI magazine and Warren Miller Films, as well as the publisher role for Ski Racing magazine.

In his spare time, Andy is the director of 50 for Colorado, an executive education program at the University of Colorado. Andy graduated from CU with a bachelor's in economics and a MBA.

On top of that, the group’s diverse mix of print and digital products across consumer, travel, B2B, and custom-publishing platforms makes this opportunity an especially exciting one. My task is to help the existing sales leaders convert the non-traditional opportunities that are increasingly emerging as the media business evolves.”
