American Whitewater, World Kayak Join Forces

Organizations share focus on the future of whitewater kayaking

The river conservation mission of American Whitewater gained a new nationwide network of friends this week through a marketing partnership with World Kayak that's designed to strengthen the outreach of both organizations to the whitewater community.

Key features of the partnership are headlined by an AW presence on, the fast-growing web presence dedicated to grass roots growth and sustenance of the global whitewater kayak community.

World Kayak will provide an RSS feed of AW headline news, an AW exclusive blogspot, plus populate AW news onto corresponding regions on the World Kayak web site. The organizations will cross promote memberships.

For its part, AW will provide editorial and advertising presence within its membership magazine encouraging members to become engaged in World Kayak events, create online blogs and participate in a conservation-oriented blogging contest.

“AW sees World Kayak as an excellent opportunity to get our message out to a wide audience of whitewater participants and hopefully raise awareness and increase support for AW projects and initiatives.” said Mark Singleton, Executive Director of American Whitewater.

“Both our organizations are focused on the future of the sport,” said James McBeath Director of the World Kayak initiative. “This partnership not only has tangible benefits for both organizations but our shared goal is to do what's right for whitewater."

McBeath said the AW partnership marks another milestone for World Kayak. “The explosive growth of World Kayak and its apolitical approach to growing the sport is gaining momentum and acceptance throughout the whitewater community,” McBeath said. Other World Kayak industry partners include Astral,, Immersion Research, Jackson Kayak, Mion, Mitchell, Red Bull, Shred Ready and Smith Optics.American
