RED LODGE, MT – When thinking of well-known explorers, images come to mind of great historic journeys and expeditions of the past – but what about the great adventurers of today? It's hard to hit a higher mark than exploration leader Will Steger.

Over the past 40 years, this award-winning explorer has made some of the most significant and ground-breaking expeditions in history – and what's the one thing he'll never leave home without when he's trotting the globe? His dependable, durable gear from Crazy Creek, the pioneer of comfortable and portable outdoor chairs and accessories.

Steger has traveled tens of thousands of miles in his lifetime by kayak and dogsled, and admits he wouldn't want to go anywhere without bringing along his Crazy Creek Chair.

“We've used Crazy Creek products exclusively since 1988,” he said. “It's an important part of our day to sit down and relax, and Crazy Creek provides such a comfortable backrest for the small, cramped space of a tent.”

Widely acknowledged as one of the foremost advocates for exploration and global warming awareness, Steger led the first confirmed dogsled journey to the North Pole without re-supply (1986); the longest unsupported dogsled expedition in history (to Greenland in 1988); the first dogsled traverse of Antarctica (1989-90); and the first dogsled traverse of the Atlantic Ocean in one season (1995).

When making these earth-spanning treks, one of Steger's favorite pieces of gear is the Crazy Creek Original Chair (pictured right). Lightweight and portable, the seat adjusts to a wide range of sitting positions, making it an essential piece of gear for any expedition. Additionally, the sturdy, coated ripstop nylon and closed-cell foam protects any adventurer from the wet ground, helping to insulate against even the coldest conditions.

Over the years, Steger's explorations haven't gone unnoticed. In 2006 he joined Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Dr. Thor Heyerdahl and Neil Armstrong in receiving the Lindbergh Award for his “numerous
polar expeditions, deep understanding of the environment and efforts to raise awareness of current environmental threats.” In 2007, he received the National Geographic Adventure Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on climate change.

When not embarking on Crazy-Creek-toting treks or raising awareness for environmental issues around the globe, Steger is busy getting the world more involved. He recently formed the Will Steger Foundation (www.willstegerfoundation.org) in an effort to spark leadership and cooperation in environmental education and policy. The Foundation's first initiative, Global Warming 101, encourages individuals and policymakers to put their concerns into action on this critical issue. (www.globalwarming101.com)
