Only 18 months young, Trixter has opened a showroom, demonstration headquarters and teacher training center for its trendy X-Bike program in Wiltshire, a county in the south of England that is the home of Stonehenge.
The new "Peak Performance Center" is in Hartham Park -- an estate surrounded by acres of countryside. Trixter has moved its headquarters into new offices, plus the company now has a training room in the Hartham Park gym.
"Trixter has had a ballistic year, going from the intellectual concept of 'moving bars on an indoor bike' to full-scale production and sale of over 3,000 bikes in 20 months," said Kevin Vyse, marketing director for Trixter Developments Ltd.
In addition, Trixter trainers will be able to use the park with its paths and trails outside the door to show potential X-Biking instructors how to ride a bike outdoors so they can translate that to the indoors and better teach indoor biking.
"Most have not actually ridden a bike properly for years," Vyse said. "Once they experience the real thing it makes it far easier for them to get the big picture on the X-Bikes."
In early September, a deal was struck that allowed Trixter to move into Hartham Park, where it would have a demo room to allow potential buyers to "come and feel the experience" and learn the performance benefits of what Trixter calls "Outdoor Attitude, Brought Indoors." The center may eventually become the European Peak Performance Center for instructors and instructors-to-be from all over the continent.
"Fortune smiled on us when we used Hartham Park for a Peak Performance Day last month," Vyse said. "The management team at Hartham saw what we were doing, were so impressed that they asked for a meeting with us to discuss a mutually beneficial deal that would give them an on-site gym and cycling center while giving us our long-desired PPC."
With the ability to trade, sell, demo and teach X-Biking in one place to all levels of buyers and users, Vyse told SNEWS® that the company is now ready "to click up a gear well ahead of anticipated."
The new address will be: Trixter Group, Hartham Park, Corsham, Wiltshire, SN13 0RP. The telephone is +44(0)1249 700611, and the fax is +44(0)1249 700612.
SNEWS® View: The "moving handlebars" is still not a concept that is easy to grasp or to apply. A center like this will allow Trixter to take care of that problem. We hear it is working on a similar center somewhere in Northern California. We really like the idea of allowing indoor biking instructors to experience outdoor mountain biking because then they can truly understand what they are doing and why -- and students will get a better understanding and a more enjoyable workout to boot. We saw retailers kneeling and standing all around the X-Bike -- like bees around honey -- inspecting its workings and moving handlebar -- still new to many -- during demos at the Health & Fitness Business show in August in Denver. So being up close and personal means a lot with this concept.
