You have likely heard that SNEWS® is now producing both the Outdoor Retailer Planning Guide (formerly the OR Directory) and the OR Daily for the Outdoor Retailer trade shows. Since the announcement of that news, we've received lots of questions about what we will be producing, how we will be handling news and product information submissions, and how to advertise, among other inquiries.

Our first step to better serve the industry was to hire a fantastic sales manager who is now exclusively dedicated to the SNEWS suite of trade products, including the OR Daily, the OR Planning Guide, Retail College, and of course, SNEWS itself. Her name is Elizabeth Averbeck and she's a dynamo of energy and passion for the industry. You can read about her here, in the About Us section of SNEWS.

Our second step was to create a quick online survey (info and a link to that survey in the article below) to learn how you, our readers and attendees of Outdoor Retailer trade shows, wanted to have your OR Daily and OR Planning Guide produced. We've already implemented changes based on the fantastic input we've received, but are eager for more.

Finally, rest assured that the new OR Planning Guide (described in brief below in the graphic) and the new OR Daily will be produced by the same veteran reporting team you have come to trust all these years...the SNEWS team led by editor in chief Therese Iknoian and managing editor Wendy Geister. Yes, our president Michael Hodgson will be lurking in the shadows as well. You'll also see many names you know and trust, both from SNEWS and past OR Dailys, as well as new faces too. Our goal is to deliver a product you feel compelled to read because it is useful, fun and informative, and enhances your trade show experience.

Welcome to your new Outdoor Retailer Planning Guide and OR Daily experience, powered by SNEWS!

We're making plans but still want your input!

On Sept. 22, SNEWS and Outdoor Retailer announced that the SNEWS team, part of the Active Interest Media Outdoor Group, was taking over production of the OR Daily (click here to read) -- the official daily newspaper of the Outdoor Retailer trade shows.

As the SNEWS team works to redesign the next OR Daily, your opinions and guidance are of great value to us. By taking a few minutes to give us some input on the OR Daily Reader Survey, you will help shape the direction, design and content of your OR Daily, as well as the way we report from Outdoor Retailer trade shows. The ultimate goal is to better serve you.

How do you want your OR Daily served? Click here to take survey now -- it will only take a couple of minutes...promise!

Getting your new products noticed at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market

New Product Editors’ Picks (OR Daily) – There will be a new “Editors’ Picks” feature in the “OR Daily” that highlights new and interesting products that stand out to our editors. Send new product submissions (one per company) for consideration to the editors of SNEWS at ORDaily@snewsnet.com. Submissions must include a 100-word maximum length product description and also be accompanied with a high-res (300 dpi, JPEG) photo. Space in the Editors’ Picks section of the OR Daily is limited and inclusion of products in this section is entirely up to the editors of the OR Daily. Deadline submission is Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

New “Product Zone” Submissions (OR Planning Guide and OR Daily) – While there is no guarantee your product will be picked for the newly-created Editors’ Picks section in the OR Daily, we have created a Product Zone advertorial section in both the OR Planning Guide and the OR Daily that will guarantee retailers and media notice your company and its products. Package rates for your complete premium product listing in both the OR Planning Guide and the OR Daily are available. For more information, email ORDailySales@snewsnet.com.

OR Daily company and event news submission guidelines for Outdoor Retailer Winter Market

General Editorial Information
– Our OR Daily editors are looking for newsworthy information about your company’s trends, marketing strategies, sponsorships, advocacy efforts, promotional campaigns, overall product line launches, etc. Send this information to the editors of SNEWS at ORDaily@snewsnet.com. Chances of inclusion improve if you send your information in the form of a well-written press release. Deadline submission is Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

Event Listing Submissions – We are planning to include a redesigned Schedule of Events in the OR Daily with information about press conferences, celebrity appearances, autograph signings, prize drawings, contests, giveaways, happy hours, etc. Retailers and journalists who will be attending OR Winter Market will rely on the Schedule of Events as a preview of what to see and do each day at the show. To be included in the schedule of events, please submit your event info (company name, booth number, time and event description. NOTE: Limit 140 characters) by email to ordailyevents@snewsnet.com. Deadline submission is Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

NOTE: While our editors will accept news suggestions and pitches throughout the show, we are far more likely to include your news and calendar information if submitted by the above deadlines.
