SNEWS® Live: The next class of Outdoor Idols ready to inspire youth to get outdoors

The next class of Outdoor Industry Foundation Outdoor Idols is introduced at the 2007 Outdoor Retailer Backcountry Base Camp and SNEWS® Live is there to catch the "Rail Jam Celebration" action firsthand.

SNEWS® Live: In advance of the 2007 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, a new class of Outdoor Idols was presented during the Backcountry Base Camp on-snow demo. At the Brighton Ski Resort near Salt Lake City, the Idols hung out with industry rookies and veterans and showed why each of the 10 are deserving of the Outdoor Idol recognition. The program, organized by the Outdoor Industry Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Outdoor Industry Association, aims to promote the efforts of young adventure athletes as a means of encouraging a new generation of enthusiasts to step away from the Xbox and get outside and active. The OIF hopes to inspire young people with this class of Winter Idols to take up cold-weather sports, such as snowboarding, downhill skiing and winter mountaineering. Though most are still teenagers, they are also world-class athletes who have a lot to share with their peers. SNEWS® Live hooked up with the inspiring teens during their Rail Jam celebration.
