SNEWS® Live: In 2002 a group of young atheletes from the kayak rodeo circuit left set out to paddle the gnarliest whitewater in the world. No waterfall was too high, no creek too steep for these freestylers. They coined a word for the superlative experience were stiriving for, which doubles as the name of their company: epicocity.
The Epicocity crew shot two videos of their outings, "Bigger than Rodeo" and most recently, "Mission: Epicocity." These films have exposed feats like Ed Lucer's record-breaking, 105-foot drop over Canada'a Alexandra Falls to audiences around the world. Fast-paced and fun, with a soundtrack of hip-hop and punk, the videos inspire professional and recreational kayakers alike to get out and find some whitewater of their own.
In January, SNEWS® Live spoke with kayaker and Epicocity mastermind Trip Jennings at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City, Calif.
