A speedboat belonging to Quiksilver CEO Pierre Agnes was found empty on the shore of a beach in Southwest France today. Boats and helicopters have been deployed by French authorities to search for Agnes, who is 54 years old.

Agnes reportedly sent a message to port authorities to alert them his trip would be delayed because of thick fog.

French authorities sent out two boats and three helicopters to facilitate the search.

The area is known for intense, sometimes dangerous waves that are prized by surfers, according to U.S. News.

Quiksilver, which is now an American company but was founded in Australia, is known for its surf wear and other board-sport related equipment. Agnes was the head of the European headquarters but was named CEO in 2015.
