The deadline for the third-annual Health magazine "Best of Fitness" awards is fast approaching. Products and applications must be submitted by June 10 for consideration in one of five main categories (apparel, footwear, equipment, gear and video/DVD). Each category is divided into several sub-categories; for example, equipment includes treadmill, weight system, elliptical trainer, stationary bike, most innovative. Cybex International has announced the launch of a new corporate website. The company said it is updated, more dynamic, easier to navigate, and more consistent with corporate goals…. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) has named Scott Goudeseune as president. Goudeseune has been with the organization since 2000 and has been the chief operating officer since July of 2005. He has been with ACE since 2003…. Multitrax Group has said it plans to expand into the health club market, with the launch of two London clubs planned for 2007. The project will see the group open two full-service Multitrax Concept Clubs offering fitness, swimming and day spa facilities….

A study conducted by American Sports Data for IHRSA shows that health club membership among the 55+ generation is expanding faster than any other demographic group. In 1987, 1.5 million U.S. health club members were older than 55. Six years later, the number had grown to 6.8 million members, and two years later in 2005 it reached 10.2 million. That means a quarter of U.S. health club members are now 55 or older…. Body-Solid Inc. has named Carey Kerns Public Relations to assist in a new brand-building initiative. The company said adding a public relations component was a key element in the company’s marketing communications program aimed at enhancing sales growth of its fitness products.
