You think you are out of balance when it comes to finding the best mix of work and life? So do most of the executives and managers polled last month by NFI Research.
More than seven of 10 surveyed said most people in business today don't have a proper balance and 11 percent of respondents even went so far as to call it "extremely" unbalanced.
However, the majority of those polled (55 percent) said they feel their own balance is just right and 13 percent even said they are "extremely" balanced.
Is this about the pot calling the kettle black?
One respondent said the Beatles could make a great song out of our struggles: "Culturally we are trained to feel out of balance. Imagine the balance that could be achieved and the time we could save if we were secure with who we are and simply committed to life-long learning. If the Beatles were still together what a great song they could make out of that theme!"
Another said that demands at work simply assume you will spend more time there than at home or with your family: "With longer hours and more demands, employees and business owners are spending more and more time at work rather than with their families especially early in their career."
