Here is one marketing/PR gimmick whose splash is worth watching -- the WaterMark Industry Leader Dunk Tank. At various times during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, WaterMark staff will be happily tossing industry executives into the paddling tank. The catch is the execs will be bound hand and foot with duct tape, relying on the effectiveness of an inflatable PFD from Sospenders to keep them afloat and breathing air, not sucking water. For every exec that hits the water, WaterMark has pledged to donate $1,000 to the Conservation Alliance. Dunkees and times are:
Aug. 8 -- 11 a.m. -- Eugene Buchanan, publisher, Paddler Magazine
Aug. 8 -- 2:30 p.m. -- Peter Metcalf, president, Black Diamond
Aug. 9 -- 9 a.m. -- Surprise (SNEWS® thinks it might be new WaterMark president Jim Clark, see below for that news)
Aug. 10 -- 9 a.m. -- Lee Fromson, president, Cascade Designs
Aug. 11 -- 11 a.m. -- Frank Hugelmeyer, president, OIA
